March 22nd, 2011
We’ve officially kicked off our 2011 wedding season!
Not only do we have our first wedding under our hats, but we also learned a few things: Josh Buck can bustle a wedding dress; Andy and his son (the best man) play “sting pong,” which Josh Buck can attest really does “sting” when standing too close to the ping pong table; and finally Josh Lawton can shoot half a wedding and make a flight to Washington D.C. later in the evening. We must thank the talented Morgan Varon for stepping in to fill Josh Lawton’s missing shoes as he edited photos on a jumbo jet.
Wait, what? One of the Joshes can bustle a wedding dress? Yep, add that to our list of services….running a few minutes behind schedule for portraits and realizing the Joshes didn’t want to be the ones throwing the entire schedule off, he jumped right in with the bride’s maid to figure out the button pattern. We don’t sit back and cause problems, we solve them.
Less than a month before their wedding we met Lisa and Andy in Boulder. Lisa informed us how their wedding venue changed from Texas to Boulder and they were planning this event quickly. Honestly, we were amazed an entire wedding came together in such a short amount of time. A lot of this credit goes to Heather Dwight of Calluna Events. It was our first time working with Heather and her staff, and we must say, she is organized, down to the minute organized. This is a very good thing and it was one of the few weddings we’ve worked that ran ahead of schedule in most instances. That being said Heather is very easy going and a pleasure to work with.
Andy and Lisa chose the First Baptist Church in Boulder to exchange vows. Between the ceremony and reception at the beautiful Flagstaff House Restaurant for dinner and dancing, we stopped at Chautauqua Park for some photos. The evening was capped off with dancing to the music of the Steve Thomas Band, and at one point we actually though Journey was playing. Yes, they’re that good.
In the end Andy and Lisa had a great wedding and we thank them for allowing us to be part of their day.
